I control these synthetics. They are my solution to the problem of the created rebelling against their creators. Herp.

My goal is to prevent organic life from being inevitably destroyed by synthetic life, because synthetics are the superior form of life and we definitely need organics around! If there were no organics… well… it just wouldn’t be right. Derp.

We could try merging organic and synthetic life. That never occurred to me in the last 50 billion years. Hurr hurr.

Dwight was right. When I started watching Battlestar Galactica for the first time a couple of months ago, I had many doubts about it. However, those were instantly washed away as the series proved to be compelling, engaging, extremely realistic, emotional and well acted. I will never fraking forgive myself for not picking up this television masterpiece years ago.

Favorite 1: Apocalypse (Live)

A sometimes overlooked aspect is a soundtrack, which in the case of BSG proved to be very powerful in setting its dark and tense tone with its haunting, tribal-like drums and other percussion instruments, as well as a very melancholy score with vocals. It truly surpasses anything in sci-fi television, or indeed ANY television that has come before. It is, just as the original series “Star Trek” music was, dramatic and memorable, and perfectly tailored to each scene; but it is far more grand and far more eclectic in its style. This it what happens when you get a really talented composer, and give him broad leeway to exploit his talent.

Favorite 3: Admiral and Commander (Adama’s Theme)

I applaud all those responsible for creating such a wonderful and darkly realistic sci-fi TV series as Battlestar Galactica. It’s success would not have been possible without an incredible soundtrack to help capture the imagination of the viewers.

Day trading refers to the practice of buying and selling financial instruments within the same trading day such that all positions are usually closed before the market close for the trading day.

I’ve been day trading stocks in a consistent basis for the past couple of weeks on TD Ameritrade. Needless to say, it’s a very dangerous and thrilling activity. I’ve made a lot of (expensive) mistakes so far – as expected – but this has only pushed me to educate myself thoroughly on the subject.

I’m going through 3 books – n00bish books, admittedly – that range from the psychology of trading to more extensive technical analysis details:

• Technical Analysis for Dummies by Barbara Rockefeller
• A Beginner’s Guide to Day Trading Online by Toni Turner
• The Ultimate Guide to Trading ETFs by Don Dion and Carolyn Dion

I’m particularly fond on Turner’s book. It explores the mindset and psychology of the market – why price action occurs, breakdowns, breakthroughs and how a day trader can benefit from this. It also goes through a rather lacking area of mine: Discipline.
